fractions
A farmer uses 9/16 of a field for growing cassava. He uses 2/7 of the remainder for growing corn
what fraction of the field is used for growing corn?

that will be 1/7 but the answer at the back of the textbook gives 1/8 . can anyone please show the working?

Now reduce the fraction.

help with this please: three sisters share some money. the oldest gets 5/11 of the money. the next girl gets 7/12 of the remainder. what fraction of the money does the youngest girl gets?

Hi;
One way to do this is like this:
So girl1 has 5 / 11 of the money, girl2 has 7 / 22 of the money and girl3 has 5 / 22 of the money.
Check to see if all the fractions add up to 1.
We are done!
