Some math problems

1. Find all integers n for which

is an integer.

2. Find a polynomial f(x) of degree 5 such that both of these properties hold:

Re: Some math problems

Hi;

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Re: Some math problems

A fact about 1. is that the difference between the result for two successive integers, f(n) - f(n-1), is:

which converges to +/- 1 very fast, suggesting that integers with an absolute value above 5 do not need to be checked.
