Hi! So I have a problem I need to help my daughter out on but I have long since forgotten how to do all this.
The midpoint of UV is (5, -11). The coordinates are of one endpoint are U (3, 5). Find the coordinates of endpoint V. Explain your answer.
If someone could carefully explain the steps to this question, that would be great!
Since we know one endpoint and know the midpoint, using the midpoint formula, we can find the unknown endpoint.
So plugging everything in, we obtainFor x, we multiply both sides by 2 and subtract 3 to get
. For y, we (again) multiply both sides by 2 and subtract 5 to get . Therefore,Last edited by evene (2016-10-05 15:23:32)

Hi;
Therefore,
An arithmetic error was made in the calculation of y, V = (7, -27), everything else looks good.
In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Alternate way is V divides UM in the ratio 2:-1.So
