Hint:

Source: Trial and error (it's a punishment for those who haven't shown any effort)

Actually I never watch Star Wars and not interested in it anyway, but I choose a Yoda card as my avatar in honor of our great friend bobbym who has passed away.

May his adventurous soul rest in peace at heaven.

Hi;

Due to teacher complaints about cheating and copyright violation we are restricted in how much and what type help we can give for homework questions.

Do you have some work of your own that I can improve or help on? If you show some work, some effort, then you can be helped. It is as simple as that.

7 is prime so only factorable by 1 or 7.

the only squares less than 6 are 1 and 4 therefore a=1, r=2

a=7, r=0

73 is prime so only factorable by 1 or 73. 73 too big so must be 1. Only smaller than 73 is r= 1 or 2. 1 is too small so a=1, r=2.

You seem to implicitly assume that a is an integer, because for a,r€R there are a lot more possiblities than your first few lines mention.

Hee, hee, you are right Lehona, for some reason everyone looked only for integer solutions. There are 6 solutions in all.

If it is true for r=2 then it is true for r=1/2

In addition substitute

and get cubic equation in x. As one value is already known as 5/2 it can be reduced to quadratic equation and can be solved.**{1}Vasudhaiva Kutumakam.{The whole Universe is a family.}(2)Yatra naaryasthu poojyanthe Ramanthe tatra Devataha{Gods rejoice at those places where ladies are respected.}**

When you're trying to do numerics you should check your work. You're not doing that. Please plug in those answers to check.
