Find Number of Dimes

Jim has a total of $13.85 in nickels, dimes and quarters.
Suppose Jim has 47 nickels. How many dines could he have?

The answer is 65 dimes. However, I keep getting 115 dimes.

Here is my effort:

1. Jim has a total of $13.85 in nickels, dimes, and quarters.
2. Jim has 47 nickels.
   - The value of 47 nickels is 47 x $0.05 = $2.35.

3. I know the total amount is $13.85, and $2.35 of that is in nickels.
   - So the remaining amount in dimes and quarters is $13.85 - $2.35 = $11.50.

4. To find the number of dimes, I must divide the remaining amount by the value of a dime ($0.10).
   - $11.50 / $0.10 = 115 dimes.

Therefore, Jim could have 115 dimes.

Re: Find Number of Dimes

Your working looks good to me.  Is there something missing in the question eg why mention quarters if they don't figure

Your answer less the book answer is 115-65=50 = 500 cents or 20 quarters.

There is nothing missing in the problem. It could also be a typo.
