Height of Mount Everest

The height of Mt.Everest is 8848 meters. Express this height in scientific notation.

Let me see.

I think 8848 becomes 8.848.

Moving 3 decimal points to the left means that 10 is raised to the 3rd power.

I get 8.848 x 10^3.

You say?

It is very important to be able to convert back and forth between scientific notation and decimal form. It is a good skill to have for sure.
