Students In Math Class

Suppose 4% of all students at a certain school prefer math as their favorite subject.

A. What is the probability that students do not prefer math.

B. If we randomly select 4 students from the class, what is the probability that at least one student prefers math?

Part A

S = probability that students do not prefer math.

P(S) = 1 - P(students prefer math)

P(S) = 1 - 0.04

P(S) = 0.96

So, 96% of students DO NOT prefer math.

Part B

S = students who do not prefer math.

T = probability that at least one student prefer math.

P(T) = 1 - P(S)^(number of students selected)

P(T) = 1 - (0.96)^4

Is this correct?

This one took me a while to do on paper before posting here. I like probability but not so much statistics.
