lim means limit.. for example a number that some sequence is approaching.
What does this approach?
0.9, 0.99, 0.9999, 0.9999999, 0.99999999999, 0.999999999999999999, 0.9999999999999999999 ...

Sin = Sine
As for lim, it means limit.
Sin = o/h
The rule is that:
(a/sinA) = (b/sinB) = (c/sinC)
Very easy to remember.

Not 'sim', 'sin'.
Just imagine how silly 'sime' would sound.
'lim' is used in equations when trying to express...well, just read polylog's post, I can't be bothered to explain something someone already has.
'sin', like I said before, is used for calculating a side (or an angle, they'll teach you about that later when they get into cos and tan, etc.). Say, I need to find x, I would use the sin rule to find x.
