An avatar is a small image that will be displayed under your username in your posts. It must not be any bigger than 80 x 80 pixels and 10240 bytes (10 KB).

Could be this changed a little bit?

Like 100 x 100 pixels and 40 KB?

100x100 does not seem too bad, but the "kb" can slow load times for dial-up connections ... let us ask the members what they think.

Okay.

For example this inocent image

Dimensions: 100 x 75

Size: 38,6 KB

Becomes 6k (click to see properly). So the kb of the image can be reduced to comply with 10k ... and we could increase dimensions to 100x100 if people agree

I think the width could easily go to 150 without disrupting things. Height means more scrolling, and increasing both width and height may encourage large/dominating images.

Opinions anyone?

I wouldn't mind 150x100, but then we don't know what internet other people are using.

I say we should narrow it back down to how the size was originally; 60x60. That's how I like it.

Why do avatars need to be big?

I agree!! Increase width to 111 and height backdown to 77.
Any existing avatar at 78, 79, or 80, will be sent an email to
tell them to fix it soon.

i have a 110 x 75 pic... it's really cool. I think 111 max height is good, but maybe 112?

i think 100x100 is enough if we lowered it down to 60x60 like devantÆ says then we will never get cool avatars............ does anyone have ideas?

well i have a cool avatar which is 100x100 people has more 100x100 than 120x80 'cause it's harder to find 120x80 ones

Why not increase the efficiency of the forum board? 60x60 gets my vote, but 40x40 or 25x25 would be good.

Oh, and disallowing animated avatars would also be a start.
