Hello everyone,
sorry to be a pain but i need some help on working out the following questions that are in my Police Test and i am not very good at maths
question 1
"How many 568ml cartons of milk are there in a chiller unit if the total quantity of milk being stored is 17. 040 litres?"
Question 2
"if 3m of chain-fencing are needed to link up two posts, what is the total lenght required to link up 10 posts? (my answer was 30 but i was wrong)
Question 3
"a car park is full and contains a 150 cars. if 40 cars are blue, 30 are white and 30 are green and the rest are red, what percentage must be red"
thanks for your time i would be happy if someone would show me how to work these questions out please note this is only a practice test and not my real police test
thanks
Joe

#1... I think I'm sure, but not positive so I won't answer.
#2. Think gaps your filling, not total posts.
#3. Figure out how many are red and divide that number by the total. Move your decimal two placed to the right and that's your percent.

Question 2 is a trick question.
Anyway, the other two are straightforward.

Not right on the cars problem. Divide 50 by 150 (50/150).

Is 27 one of the choices?

It may be one of the choices, but its the wrong choice. If you cant imagine the situation, break it down this way:
You need 3 metres to link 2 posts. ∴ You will need
6 metres to link 3 posts
9 metres to link 4 posts
12 metres to link 5 posts
15 metres to link 6 posts
Continue until you get to 10 posts.
And for the last question, the answer is not 30%. See my edited post above.

I'm rubbish at Maths too. Got assessment centre 11th June. Go to the shops by a book called All the Math You'll Ever Need: A Self-Teaching Guide
by Steve Slavin. Ive just bought it. It's brilliant and in a few short hours you will be able to multiply, divide and find percentages etc. Don't just buy these books and stick em on the shelf tho. The stuff actually has to be read. Its good tho. x
Good advice, isaacsma.
