Re: Euro 2008

Spain win! They will now face Russia in the Semi-Final ...

Fabregas is a hero! Especially the goalkeeper ... wonderful saves he made. Wasn't Buffon's day, I suppose.

Re: Euro 2008

And Spain have won 4-2 on penalties! big_smile

I think Spain deserved to win, after all the chances they made in open play. The Italians played far too defensively. smile

Italy played way too much like Greece in Euro '04. -_-

Re: Euro 2008

26′: That’s more like it. Bastian Schweinsteiger turns Lukas Podolski’s cross past Rüştü Reçber, and it’s Germany 1-1 Turkey. smile

The Turkey goalscorer was Uğur Boral, by the way.

Re: Euro 2008

Half time: One goal each. Turkey are by no means overawed by the occasion – they’re playing as well as the Germans. smile

79′: The leading scorer at the 2006 World Cup, Miroslav Klose, gives Germany the lead. Germany 2-1 Turkey.

Re: Euro 2008

86′: Germany 2-2 Turkey?! Someone pinch me! I must be dreaming. yikes

Semih Şentürk was the scorer of Turkey’s second goal – now he has 3 goals in the tournament as well. neutral

Full time: Germany 3-2 Turkey. This time it is Turkey’s opponents who provide the last-minute drama. tongue

Re: Euro 2008

34′: Still 0-0. Topscorer David Villa won’t be adding to his account in this match. He picks up an injury and is replaced by Cesc Fàbregas! yikes

Re: Euro 2008

Half time: I’m shattered. I’ve been looking forward to seeing Villa score in this match. Roman Pavlyuchenko can draw level with him if he scores, but Spain have been dominating the match. At least that was what they were doing in the rain-drenched first half – which was, all in all, pretty disappointing, with chances being few and far between. neutral

Re: Euro 2008

Full time: Well, it was a much better second half – if only because of those three goals. And Spain are the the final of a major tournament for only the third time in their history! big_smile They’ve won the championship once (1964) and been runners-up once (1984) – and they’ve never reached the final of any World Cup tournament before. What a big moment this is for Spain! dizzy

Hoping Spain, thinking it will be Germany, though.

Re: Euro 2008

Spain have played marginally better football than Germany in the tournament. But the Germans have more experienced players in their squad. Should be a good contest this Sunday. smile

Okay folks! Here is the moment everyone’s been waiting for: the Euro 2008 Final between Germany and Spain at Vienna. smile

BTW the top scorer David Villa is injured and is not playing in this match. yikes
