This is a little more of an explanation of what I need to do. Any help would be great.
Take the real-life situation you described (2005 & 2006 accidents) and create an equation or inequality that could be used for analysis, prediction, or decision making. Then, draw a graph to depict the variables in your situation. Use your graph and what you know about linear inequalities to discuss the significance of your findings
What more info would be helpful? and how would I put % into an equation?
If I have 66 accidents in 2005 and 47 in 2006, how do I find the estimated accidents for 2007 and what equation would I give?
Our professor was very fague on the question, but I think you have helped me enough to discuss intelligently:)
We are studying the system of linear equations.(value of x)
and reasons why it is important????
so it would be y=-2x+2 and y=2x+2; right
I have to graph by first solving for y.
4x - 3y=6
I came up with y=0, -2 and the slope 4/3. Am I right?
How do I write an equation of the line with slope -2 and y-intercept (0,0)?
would it be
y=-2x or y= x -2
So I show y=2x+2 & y=1/2x+2 are parrallel...is that correct?
Thank you, makes sense now.
3x-4y <12 I graphed the points (-4,-6);(4,0); and (0,-3) now I just don't know whether to shade above or below the line???
These data represent the population of a certain city.
Year Population (in thousands)
1950 18
1960 23
1970 29
1980 32
1990 38
2000 42
(a) Draw a line graph for the data.
(b) Use the line graph to predict the population in the year 2010.
Is it best to do graphs in excel or word? Mine are looking horrible!!!
Use the following tabe to answer the question.
Population of Europe by Age Groups
Population (in thousands)
1950 1970 1995
Age 0-14 143,175 166,367 139,464
Age 15-64 359,162 421,432 487,110
Age 65+ 44,981 68,642 101,338
Age 75+ 14,553 22,762 38,139
Total 547,318 656,441 727,912

What was the percentage increase in the age 75+ population of Europe from 1970 to 1995?
Determine which two equations represent parallel lines.
(a) y = 2x + 2 (b) y = 2x + 2 (c) y = x + 2
(d) y = 2x + 5
Write the equation of the line which passes through the point (2, 1) and is parallel to the line with equation y =5/2x + 6 .
the points on graph are (0,3),(2,0),(-1,-2),(-3,1)
is this the way to work this m=1-(-2)/-3-(-1) =-1/2 m=0-3/2-0=-3/2
this would be a rectangle would like to know if this is correct
thanks
so then to write it in standard form would just be y=-3/5x+5 am I trying to make things complicated?
write in standard form; (0,5), m=-3/5
y=mx + b 5=-3/5(0) +b 5=b y=0.x+5 y=5
did I do this correct? or am I not getting something
thanks alot so if slope is 5 and y-intercept: (0,-2) y=5x -(-2); so I graph (0,-2) then slope is rise over run slope of 5 =5/1 so if x changes by 1 then y would change by 5 so y value would be 5(5-2) plot the point of (1,3) am I on the right track or did I not get something.
that makes sense now Thanks
thanks that help me get out of the rut
it says used the concept of slope to determine if the given figure is a parallelogram or a rectangle. I don't understand what that means. do I just count the boxes or find the points that the lines are passing through and if they are equal it is a parallelogram and if they are not it is a rectangle? Not Sure what to do or if there is a formula for finding
floor plans for a building have four corners of a room located at the points (2,3),(11,6), (-3,18) and (8,21) determine whether the side through the points (2,3) and (11,6) is parallel to the side through the points (-3,18) and (8,21); then determine whether the side through the points (2,3) and (11,6) is perpendicular to the side through the points (2,3) and (-3, 18); I am so confused now I don't know where to begin. this is what I did hope to find if I am on the right track;
m=6-3/11-2 =3/9=1/3 and m= 18-3/-3-2=15/5=3 now I need to find out if it is perpendicular ?
