Long Division

Divide 2x^4 - 3x^3 + 0x^2 + x + 1 by 2x^2 + x + 1.

Note: 0x^2 is a place holder.

After more than an hour, I finally got the right answer.

Quotient = x^2 - 2x + (1/2).

Remainder = (5x/2) + (1/2).

Problem 97 on page 49.

Re: Long Division

I find the most likely source of error is sign mistakes.  You need to be careful with minus a minus.

You are right. Back in my school days, math teachers often told me to be careful with my signs.
