Hey, I study computing and have a small Math module to do over the weekend. (The most feared unit on all my course for me as I never have had a good mind for maths.
Anyway, here are some questions that are bugging me...
Could anyone please tell me either the answers and/or the steps of working them out?
1. (Please note the cubed symbols have minus' before them in this one) Calculate 2 x 10-³ x 3 x 10-³
2. Binary to denary conversion. Convert 11111110 divided by 2
3. Calculate: 22 1/3rd

3 3/8ths
4. Calculate 22 1/3 - 3 3/8
5. (22 1/3 / 3 3/8) + 22 1/3
Thanks for taking time to help

Answers:-
1. 6 x 10^(-6) i.e. 6 x 1/100,000 = 0.000006
2. Question not clear. Is it convert 11111110 into binary, then divide by 2?
3. 22 1/3 = 67/3, 3 3/8 = 27/8; 67/3 divided by 27/8 is
67/3 x 8/27 = 536/81.
4. 67/3 - 27/8 = [536-81]/24 = 455/24
5. Result of 3 + 22 1/3 = 536/81 + 67/3 = [536*3 + 81*67]/243
= 7035/243 = 2345/81

That's awesome. Thanks a lot for that speedy reply. Don't worry about that binary question. I think i sussed it.

I think the binary one is 11111110 (bin) ÷ 2(dec) = ?(dec)
Anyway, 2 in binary is 10 and so the first part is really easy, you just knock off the 0.
11111110 ÷ 10 = 1111111.
Then, to convert that into decimal, assign each 1 its power-of-2 value.
1111111 --> 1+2+4+8+16+32+64 = 127.
Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.
