Have you been shown a simple way to check these. It is not 100% foolproof but it usually finds a wrong one very quickly.
Also I have cleaned up your latex. Use \div when you want ÷.

Just substitute some numbers for x and y. Do a couple of them and the answers should always be the same on both sides. This is not foolproof but will usually find a bad simplification.
I chose x = 10 and y = 5
