Am i correct ?

in a group of sinngle mothers, 14% were on welfare while the others were employed . if 4300 were employed, how mmany mothers in this group were on welfare?

i did this..but now i think what i did isn't right. what are your thoughts on what i did :

14/100 = x/4300
100x = 60200
x = 602

I did 4300/86 (As the other 86% of the group are employed), and then *100 to get the amount of people in the group as a whole (5000), then subtracted the employed people (4300) to get the remaining number of people on welfare in the group as 700.

Talvon's answer is correct but let's look at where you went wrong Teha: 

Your first line:   14/100 = x/4300

The 14 is the number of women on welfare and 100 is the total women.    X in the second fraction also represents the women on welfare but 4300 is the number of women NOT on welfare instead of the TOTAL number of women.   It should be:
